Open Wheel Rental Sessions

Available in 2-hour Sessions: Includes up to 1 hour and 45 minutes on the wheel and 15 minutes of active cleanup.

Available to students who have completed the 4-week course, or at least two regular throwing classes with our wheel instructors, or anyone who has equivalent wheel throwing skills and would like to use the wheel completely on their own. No supervision or guidance in wheel throwing is provided by staff- you are just renting the wheel time. Each 2 Hour sessions includes the use of up to 5 pounds of stoneware clay, use of tools, bisque firing of viable pieces, up to 1 hour and 45 minutes on the wheel and a required 15 minutes of active cleanup so that the next person using the wheel has a clean wheel and workspace just like you had when you started your session.  There is no limit to the quantity of thrown pieces you can make during your 1hour and 45 minutes of wheel time with exception of what you can create within the 5lb. clay limit. By the 1:45 mark, you are expected to have completed your last piece for the session and you will start cleaning up so that the next person can use the wheel. We will fire your viable items to a Cone 04 bisque in approximately 10-14 days. You must come back within 30 days on your own time to glaze your piece(s) so we may complete the final Cone 6 firing and have them ready for pick up approximately 2 weeks later.  As we have 4 wheels at the studio, you can purchase up to 4 sessions for any one 2-hour time period, limit one person per wheel.

Price: 2 Hour Open Wheel Rental Sessions are CHF55 plus tax per person. Additional Costs: If you’d like more clay, additional clay over the 5-pound included limit is CHF10 per pound available for your use during your session time. You may then come back and glaze your pottery pieces at your leisure up to 30 days from the date you made it. Paint time at our regular rates of CHF10 per hour. You may also purchase and paint other pottery during this unlimited paint time session if you wish. We reserve the right to charge an additional CHF15 fee for firing XL pieces (per firing for both bisque and glaze firings). This fee will be charged per piece and per firing for any pieces you make in excess of 10 inches in diameter and/or 10 inches high, as measured by a ruler. We also reserve the right to refuse any overly large, complex or fragile work of clay. If you are concerned about a possible refusal to fire, please speak with the owner or one of our wheel instructors ONLY (our regular staff cannot assist you with this inquiry) prior to arranging time to make this type of piece on the wheel.
